Michael Ribar is a Principal Associate for Social Policy and Economics Research. He has experience in policy analysis, program design and improvement, and technical assistance for poverty reduction and nutrition assistance programs. He has developed regulations and policy guidance at the federal and state levels, led program improvement efforts to increase administrative efficiencies and reduce payment errors, and designed and implemented food and income security programs at the state level.
Ribar supports policy and technical assistance work serving the federal government, state human service agencies, and community organizations. For example, he provides policy analysis and research expertise for various Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) projects for USDA.
Earlier, Ribar was a Deputy Administrator for the District of Columbia’s Department of Human Services, where he directed policy, training, and quality assurance work. Ribar served for 8 years with USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service. He is trained in human-centered design approaches.
